GTA 5 weapon database

Quick answers for GTA Online (worked out from the table below; stats are 0–100 ratings, not raw damage):

  • Best main gun to save for: the Battle Rifle, the hardest-hitting assault rifle sold for GTA$ (damage 41, $497,500).
  • First rifle a new character can buy: the Compact Rifle, unlocked at rank 1 for $14,650.
  • Close range: the Double Barrel Shotgun (damage 98, $15,450).
  • Longest range you can buy: the Heavy Sniper (range 100, $38,150).
  • Where to buy: most guns at Ammu-Nation; Mk II versions are made by upgrading the base gun at a Weapon Workshop, so they have no rank gate here.

Damage, fire rate, accuracy, range, clip size, price and unlock rank for 104 GTA 5 and GTA Online weapons across eight classes. Every figure is read from a published stat table and cited on the weapon's own page — where a value isn't published, it is left blank rather than filled in. The table keeps the columns that decide a purchase; accuracy and ammo capacity are on each weapon's own page.

Pick a weapon by the job

All-round main gun · Assault Rifles

Rifles cover most mission fights at mid range, so this is where your first big weapon spend should go.

Close quarters · Shotguns

Indoors and around vehicles, one heavy hit matters more than accuracy.

Long range · Sniper Rifles

For clearing rooftops and guards before you move in; you won't use it in every mission.

Spraying groups · Machine Guns

This class trades damage for fire rate, so judge it on both columns, not damage alone.

Sidearm · Handguns

A cheap backup for when the main gun runs dry; don't spend big here.

Paying for it

Guns are cheap next to vehicles and properties. Work out which earner funds your loadout fastest with the business profit calculator or the heist payout calculator. Need a ride too? See the vehicle database or the weaponized vehicles list.

Data sources & disclaimer

Every number here was pulled on 2026-09-09 from GTABase's GTA V weapon pages (gtabase.com/grand-theft-auto-v/weapons), one page per weapon, and each row links back to the exact page it came from. Damage, fire rate, accuracy and range are GTABase's published 0–100 stat values — relative ratings on the same scale as the in-game stat bars, not raw damage points or rounds per minute.

Fields GTABase doesn't publish are left blank: melee weapons have no accuracy value, Mk II weapons and most post-2016 DLC weapons have no unlock rank, and bonus-reward or story-mode-only weapons have no GTA$ price. GTA Wiki (gta.fandom.com) was behind Cloudflare and could not be used as a second source, so no value here is cross-checked or averaged — it is either sourced or blank.
